All true afficionados of
tennis want to visit All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet
Club, home of the prestigious Wimbledon Tennis Championships.
Even if you can't get tickets for the Championships, you
can take a guided tour of the club.
The tours are now in their
third year and, unsurprisingly, are growing in popularity
by leaps and bounds.
They allow access to areas
never normally seen by members of the public.
What You See on the
Tour
- They start on the Tea
Lawn then visitors can see
- The statue of Fred Perry,
the last British player to win the Gentleman’s Singles
Championship
- No. 1 Court, Wimbledon’s
newest show court
- The beautiful and impressive
Water Gardens, with a wonderful view over Central London.
- The Players’ Entrance
of the Millennium Building
- The Press Interview Room
- sit behind the players’ table where some of the
greatest players in the world have sat for their post
match interviews.
- The tour ends on the world
famous Centre Court.
Quick Facts
- Daily tours started on
22nd March 2004 and will continue until 31st October 2004.
- No Tours at all will take
place between 14th June and 11th July 2004 inclusive.
- Weekend Tours for individuals
will restart on 6th November 2004 and continue until March
2005.
- English, French, German,
Spanish and Italian guided tours are available for group
bookings.
- Group tours booked in
advance can choose a tour at the most convenient time
for them and also tailored to suit specific requirements
and interests.
- Admission to the Museum
is included in the tour price.
